Me. Sort of. When Blogger isn't driving me completely batshit insane, which it has the past few days with disturbing regularity. Like the first try at posting this, for instance.

(I have a feeling that this is going to show up four or five times now.)

[It did, but I deleted the redundant posts. - Fred]

So, out of nothing more than idle curiosity, how many of you are still out there...?

Saturday?!? D'oh!!

Happy belated birthday. Or happy next birthday, really, really early.

*sigh*

Monday, March 28, 2005

It was Saturday. But hey, don't look at me -- I'm trying not to get any older!

Fred's birthday? Isn't that tomorrow?

I'm saving my lauds and exaltations for the real event, not just a horseshoes and hand grenades proximity.

Complete dorks are people, too.

But you had it right. :) Thanks!

Oh, man, I hope I have this right! Otherwise, I'm going to look like a complete dork. Here goes anyway.

Happy Birthday Fred!!!!!!!!

I always (well, almost always) copy before I send; however, on Saturday evening when I wrote the post for Faking It, I... well, I had been drinking (which is why I don't remember it well enough to reproduce it, but boy, was it funny... it was about Condi Rice and Dick Cheney, and it echoed James Joyce, and touched on fake orgasms, and... well, anyway, you would have laughed if you'd read it); and, further, we have been suffering through numerous power outages in my neighborhood over the past week. Once the computer shuts down because the power goes out, anything copied is still lost. So I was doubly screwed. Oh well.

And yes, amycamus is a guy. (A guy with a French girlfriend, in fact -- Sally and I had dinner with the two of them just last night.) He took the name because he'd been listening to Yma Sumac a day or two before he started capping for the first time and liked it, not even thinking about the gender-bending aspect of it.

Always copy and paste first. Best to draft your posts in something like Notepad before attempting to publish. Blogger has been known to eat posts every now and again.

And yes, amycamus is a guy. But Yma Sumac isn't, so it all works out in the end.

I, too, lost a couple of posts. Despite the fact that Fred had told it was a good idea to copy posts before publishing, and what the home page even warns could happen, I was convinced that everything would be fine, it would all work out, NO PROBLEMS! Kind of disheartening, but I guess blogger showed me not to put too much faith in technology.

Speaking of haiku, I think both Generik and Fred did a great job. I kept trying to write one, but never got past the first line: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 syllables, and it wasn't a haiku anymore (unless I rewrote the rules.....)

Random Oops!:amycamus is a GUY???????

Thanks, Fred,I appreciate that. I recall one Easter Sunday in Tijuana, back in 1999, sitting on a rooftop bar in the afternoon sun drinking beer and tequila with amycamus and nashtbrutusandshort (aka Scott and John, respectively), and all three of us writing haiku as fast as we could say five-seven-five. We must've written fifty that day if we wrote one. At one time, they were preserved on a website, but I have no idea where they are now or what happened to them in the interim.

Speaking of which... I had written a piece for my own subject, Faking It, on Saturday evening that apparently never made it to the board. I've been having trouble at home with power outages since late last week, but I thought it had published without a problem. It now appears to be missing, or maybe it never really posted in the first place. Anybody have any clues about that? Did anyone else see it, or did I write it and then somehow lose it before it posted?

I bow before your haiku skills, Generik-san.

I hope everyone will wish Christy a warm welcome. Maybe even, I dunno...by writing a little? It'd make the place seem a little less lonely to the newcomer. ;)

Welcome to the party, Christy.
