Jon: superstarry-ness
I was gonna do a beautiful statement of selling out, but it's been so elegantly done, you know, that I couldn't. Then I was gonna have him be a serial murderer, but that didn't work, so I made him a sort of modern-day Newton Boy. That was my thought process there.

ps. I hadn't thought about it, but the statement we heard this last weekend, the eloquent sell-out speech about out-weirding the common man, was derived from the speeches of Malcolm X, and had to be rewritten and toned down because it was too much like them. Just so you know. Also, the song following the speech was co-written by Kid Rock, if there were any doubt about selling out to the fans.

Shawn, re confusion:

I posted a topic yesterday since it was almost 1 pm, central time, and Remi hadn't posted one yet. Technically, tomorrow is your day, but, given that it's a weekend and nobody's been posting much lately anyway, I don't mind you taking my spot.

Hey, Jon.

I'm honored.

(Technically, I guess this counts for both yesterday and today. I lamely threw in a bit about unsolvable riddles...mainly so I'd have an excuse for losing track of time and probably writing for a little longer than 10 minutes.)

Aw, Mom. *sniff*

Grrrr. Bother timestamps and timezones and Blogger.

...How can 10 minutes at work completely undo an entire day at the lake? It isn't fair.

Spoiler Alert: Read Mom's "rent" post first.

First thought: Yay, Mom wrote fiction!
Second thought: Oh, that's so sad...

Way to go, Ma. Spiffy.

Ha! Before I read your note here, I was logging in to post "I am so your daughter."

I learned from the best, Baby.

Sharon - we are TOO much alike. I swear that I did not read your post until after I posted mine.

Thanks for the references, Shawn. I'm just thinking that the girls--me, Mom, and Faith--probably don't know enough to write in or about that genre. Throw us a bone, keeping in mind that Mom and Faith, while both good and intelligent people, are not gamers.

Back-dated vice post.

Hey, Jon, why don't you write a little here to define the genre of steampunk? Mom's definition of iambic pentameter gave me enough confidence to write for it, so some folks (including me) might need some help getting a firm grasp on steampunk. To date, my only real exposure to the genre is the modern Wild, Wild West movie, with Kevin Klein and Wil Smith. I don't think that is entirely representative, but I sure as heck want a 40-foot tall spider tank! Um, oh, what? Right. Steampunk.

Catching up. More to come.

Shawn: very interesting twist on the whole time travel idea. Although I'm still puzzling over what "necessary precautions" would keep everyone from aging 98 years...

Big hairy deadline met! Glad to see folks are still coming 'round. I needed to give myself permission not to back fill and catch up. So here I am. (Staring down the barrel of another big hairy deadline. I need a dipilatory. Right. I'm going to bed. Close the parentheses first.) Got it.
