Congratulations, Jon.

Margaret's original post was dated 7/25, which is why it did not appear to publish on the front page. The "Change Time & Date" feature is getting set. Perhaps it does not clear itself out adequately.

Don't press me.

Don't mistake comedy for confession. I have to eat toast, too, y'know.

I'm still thinking about the last time you visited, Fred, and eyeing my toaster warily.

Gross out, huh? Hmm. I should be up to the challenge. After all, I once wrote a love song about diarrhea.

The drumming arouses the Dancer. The Dancer inspires the Drum. Together they are a pure, primal exaltation of YES.

Amen.

Hey, Bryan. I just set up an Invisible City discussion board. One of the forums is "Invisible Communities," under the category "Invisible Indie," and I think that would be a perfect place to announce your mix exchange, if you want. I had you and Fred in mind when I created that forum.

Little Red Boat posted a poem that made me think of Margaret. 'Tis sweet.

Trolls can fit under bridges, while Ogres carry clubs. I figure Ogres are considerably bigger.

To my mind (shush, YX), Trolls, as nether-bridge-dwellers, are wet and dark and grow moss. They have reflective, nocturnal eyes. Ogres look like walking stone, with huge, flat, herbivorous teeth that could crush your rib cage, like a hippopotamus.

Since you asked.

Archives are not picking up my changes, so you may just have to scroll down to Monday, but I posted a memory for fire.

Speaking of willing yourself out of the dominant paradigm, I just received a request to reprint an article I wrote for Paradigma Online back in '98. The special edition will be distributed at Dragon*Con. *beam*

Hey Margaret: I hope that topic's OK. If not, you can either suggest a different one, or I can change my futureposts for my next topic and you can have my day.
Just let me know.

Existential angst: "Oh crap! I Exist!"
How is that good?
And if it's not good, why did I have to waste part of my brain learning about it, reading books devoted to instilling or communicating it?

I noticed that. What a coincidence.

Again, sorry. I wish I could find a happier quote in my bag of tricks. I don't know all the details, but you deserve better.

Today, Friend, it isn't.

Sorry. If it's any consolation, you no longer have my job.

[puts head down on desk and cries]

"Did you ever have a job that you hated, worked really hard at? Long, hard day at work, finally you get to go home, get in bed, close your eyes...and immediately you wake up and realize that the whole day at work had been a dream. It's bad enough that you sell your waking life for minimum wage, but now they get your dreams for free." -- Waking Life

I'm quite happy to say I've never once dreamed about Blogger, as far as I can recall.

Steps I followed this morning:
  1. Noticed that Margaret had a post that wasn't showing up on the blog. Two actually.
  2. Sighed.
  3. Viewed the blog and refreshed the page, just to check. Scrolled all the way down it, too, just to be really sure.
  4. Deleted the later of the two identical posts.
  5. Clicked the Publish button.
Post is there now. I couldn't say what the cause is. I'm still thinking time differences, in that the blog thinks your post is in the future still.

I had a dream that another new "feature" of Blogger is that it only allows three team members on a collaborative blog, but ours was grandfathered in. I still wondered if that was partly to blame for our woes.

Yes, I dream about this stuff. It never ends.

Hey, Ben. How many milliNovas? [ducks]

I don't think I've noticed any more trouble with Blogger than usual. I have trouble getting the entire page to load more often than getting individual posts to publish. Usually, it's just a matter of trying again or waiting for the information to actually get transferred.

Although, on (not so) rare occasion, I'll get a completely different blog when I first type in the address of either 600 seconds or 600+. Which, I suppose, is just one of the amusingly bizarre side effects of using Blogspot.

(Of course, having said that, I sit and watch as this post at first spectacularly fails to publish...)

I hate bugs. I hate debugging. I'm not too keen on programmers or users, neither.

I do see Ben's 600seconds post, out on the internet. So, has someone published the blog after he made the post, below? If not, Ben, refresh the page? I have found that, despite my aggressive no-caching settings, I'll still get cached versions of my blogs sometimes. That would go a ways towards explaining Margaret's difficulties, too.

Like playin' Area 51, I say: "Reload."

My sugar-frosted posty-flakes aren't showing up on the other page. Odd. It lets me post, the post is there, it just ain't on the internet. Maybe it'll show up later.
In the meantime, Happiness be.

Cookie. I think the word is cookie.

Mmm... cookies...

Other theory: A post between midnight and 2am, Central time, shows up out of order, and if you don't know to look for it, you don't see it, farther down on the page than it should be. Other-other theory: intermittant Blogger outages.

Ack! Why I don't go outside in Texas: Just got a note about a co-worker who was hospitalized because she lacked feeling in part of her face. The cause? An insect bite. Too hostile here. Hmm... She is getting out of work, though...

Margaret, Shawn, I suspect timestamps may be the issue. Anybody else on the Left Coast seeing squirrely effects? Are you each publishing from different computers? (I can't imagine that the local time setting on the machine would have an impact, but there have been all kinds of enhancements with this upgrade.) I'm curious if setting the time on the post to two hours in the past would make it publish.

Why, gobs and gobs of cash, natch!

In answer to Sharon's question in the, whaddayacallit, "real world" this weekend, I only just learned that Dave Berry is also a July 3-er. Yay Middle Cancers! Whoohoo!

Ooh, ooh, I've added another to the list of people with whom I am proud to share my birthday. Now it's Tom Cruise, Kafka, Dave Barry and me. Between the four of us, you've got the perfect man.

I'm going away for the weekend, but I promise that when I get back I'll start writing again. I'll leave it to you to decide if that's a good thing or not.

Have a great 4th of July weekend, everyone!

This just keeps getting better. It all started when I was reflecting on REM songs. That reminded me of Squid, so I shared Squid and Elwood with Shawn, and talked about them here. This prompted a stranger to write to me. One presumptuous request later, and I had my very own Squid and Elwood CD. My labyrinth post continues to be the highest ranking "Squid and Elwood" hit on Google, so today I received... an email from Squid! He caught me up on news from his life. He's doing great. I hadn't heard from him in at least 7 years.

The internet is awesome.

Also, Blogger/Google is looking to hire support technicians, in San Jose. Think I should apply?

It's all straight now, Bryan. Thanks.
