Welcome back from Hell, er, Texas, Shawn!

By the way, I'll be out of town all weekend, doing a 24-hour stint at a client in Kansas City, so if anyone else should grab the topic on Sunday.

One can never take candy corn too seriously.

"Math is hard," taunts my husband. Stick it in your ear, mister.

I think I've turned 600seconds into my new dream journal. But hey, instant content, right?

Friday, October 24, 2003

Thanks, Fred. In truth, they both came about on the same day, and I just back-dated the one. The river one was a dream I woke up with yesterday morning. Then, a little later in the day: Teddy bear poem.

So, I'm not entirely convinced they did come from the same brain. My dreaming brain is definitely strange.

I'm a little amazed (in a good way) that this and this came from the same brain, only one day apart, Sharon.

I'm not entirely satisfied with it, but at least I'm writing. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Sorry Faith, I have no tips. My sleep patterns are not a choice. Circadian rhythms, Baby. I fall asleep way too early at night too. That can be a real drag as my sweetie is a night owl by nature. I often stay up later than my body prefers, and then I am literally dropping off in mid sentence.

Right... I've overslept each of the last three days. Tonight, I'm paying. Notice that it is 3:40 AM in my time zone, and I'm still awake. I have no one to blame but myself...

By which you mean you've overslept on 3 separate occasions, right? Not that you've overslept by 3 full days? (Sorry, my brain isn't functioning properly, is demanding sleep.)

I just thought this was the neatest site, & had to share it with y'all. Youze. You'uns. Yous guys.

Just for the record, I've overslept for 3 days straight now...

I knew I'd have a good one for spoon. Just had to get all this dumb work out of the way.

Well, we just figured, when you turned down the Jell-o...

Oh sure. You wait until I leave to do all the fun stuff!

I got your reference, sir. You sent me the link, after all.

I printed it out, adorned it in runes, and then set it aflame, while dancing and chanting "Nah Noe Rye Moe," naked and covered in finger paint in my living room.

I had to look it up, Shawn. I hope to write at least half as well with my NaNoWriMo attempt.

Again late, but, since things are thin on the blog t the moment I just posted it any ol' place.

Okay, Chili Beans, three of us, so far, have registered for National Novel Writing Month in November, and a fourth is thinking about it. There is still the opportunity for others to join.

600 seconds needs to not be "that thing I feel guilty about because I'm working on my novel." Instead, it should be a place of community and support. (The NaNoWriMo boards are cool, but there's too much stuff! If I started reading and replying, I'd have no time for Writing. We can be our own, reasonably sized support group.)

I suggest we shift the focus for the coming weeks. Let's still post topics, and those who aren't Wrimoing can still write 10-minute passages. Those who are, send status updates and word counts to the 600s blog when you like. Pose questions when you're stuck. Post passages if you're ready. (I wouldn't be. Eek, looking at a work in progress? Perish the thought. But that's me. I don't bring my underwear to the laundromat.) I want to keep activity moving on the 600s board, so that we're not all languishing in silence, wondering if we're the only one stuck inside, with writers block.

This is our play space. The intent has always been to make writing safe and easy, so you get all the Head Junk out of the way and just Write. NaNoWriMo is kind of the culmination of that. The pinnacle. The zenith. The...

I'll resist the urge to bring up the thesaurus, and just quit there.

I signed up yesterday. Anything that gets me writing can't be bad. It could kill me, and I don't have any idea where or how to start a project as big as a novel (ten minutes on a single topic has been proving tough lately), but I'm going to feign optimism and give it a shot.

Hey, gang. Y'all are writers, so here's a thought: NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. Ben's up, I'm gearing up, Jon groaned audibly. How 'bout you?

Tuesday, October 07, 2003

Well, it was several days late but I posted for Reaching Out. I just dated it for yesterday to keep it in the current page.

Faith: Yes! ^_^

Not ten minutes worth of writing, but it was 10 minutes worth of cute, I thought.
