Jon: superstarry-ness
I was gonna do a beautiful statement of selling out, but it's been so elegantly done, you know, that I couldn't. Then I was gonna have him be a serial murderer, but that didn't work, so I made him a sort of modern-day Newton Boy. That was my thought process there.
ps. I hadn't thought about it, but the statement we heard this last weekend, the eloquent sell-out speech about out-weirding the common man, was derived from the speeches of Malcolm X, and had to be rewritten and toned down because it was too much like them. Just so you know. Also, the song following the speech was co-written by Kid Rock, if there were any doubt about selling out to the fans.
